Who Inspired Amanda Primrose?
The story of Amanda Primrose begins over eighty years ago, during the London Blitz. My mother Margaret spent long, frightening nights sheltering in a tube station, imagining a kinder, gentler world than the one unfolding above. In that imaginary world she was a little girl called Amanda Primrose, living in a chocolate box English village, surrounded by nature and all things wonderful.

Now here I am, living on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. Sheep graze in the field behind the house. A 15th century church tower watches over them, and beyond, the high moor glistens with its iconic tors. This landscape, its wild heart, its ancient rhythms, its quiet beauty, is what finally brought Amanda Primrose to life.
Amanda Primrose is a small business rooted in the soils and traditions of Dartmoor. Here, I create eco-friendly wool products that are both practical and beautiful. Each piece begins with local wool, sourced from Dartmoor farmers who care for their land and livestock as generations have before them.
At its heart, Amanda Primrose is about three things:
Creating ~ Community ~ Connection
Creating with intention ~ using natural materials, supporting local farmers, and making products built to last.
Community built on kindness ~ gathering together to learn, share, and make.
Connection to place and past ~ honouring Dartmoor's traditions and the imaginary girl who dreamed of a better world.
I hope you will join me on this fully woolly journey
Amanda Primrose xx
